Tom Thompson Recognition

Posted Date: 8/05/25 (7:52 AM)

The Breckinridge County School District is proud to recognize Tom Thompson for being named the 2025 Kentucky Farm Bureau Career & Technical Administrator of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Career and Technical Education!

A lifelong resident of Breckinridge County and a 1994 graduate of Breckinridge County High School, Tom has dedicated his career to supporting students, educators, and the future of workforce development in Kentucky. After beginning his career as a machinist, Tom entered the classroom in 2000 to teach Computerized Manufacturing and Machining at the Breckinridge County Area Technology Center. From there, his leadership journey took off — serving twice as Principal of the BCATC, then as Area Supervisor for 17 ATCs in the West Region, and later as Director of the Division of Technical Schools and Continuous Improvement.

Now serving as the Director of the Division of Student Transition and Career Readiness at the Kentucky Department of Education, Tom continues to lead efforts that ensure students across the Commonwealth are ready for life after high school.

Tom’s passion, leadership, and dedication are a shining example of the excellence we strive for in Breckinridge County. We are incredibly proud of this well-deserved honor and grateful for all he has given — and continues to give — to our community and our students.

Congratulations, Tom! Your hometown is proud of you! #breckstrong
