“Breckinridge County High School Recognized as a High Performing School”

                The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) released annual test scores on October 1, 2015 and Breckinridge County High School continued its upward trend for the past four years.  KDE assesses public high schools on performance in the areas of Achievement, GAP, Growth, Program Reviews, College and/or Career Readiness, and the Graduation Rate.  Overall, Breckinridge County High School scored in the 92nd percentile with a score of a 76.0. The school has been named a high performing school and classified as a distinguished/progressing school in all of Kentucky’s public high schools.  The high school’s students also scored above the state average in five of the six areas tested.

                Breckinridge County High School’s staff is very proud of the school’s GAP scores as well.  These scores compare the performance of students with disadvantages to the overall performance of all students.  These students scored above the state averages in five of six tested areas as well.

                College and/or Career readiness scores improved at Breckinridge County High School during the 2014-15 school year.  70.6 percent of the 2015 graduating class earned college and/or career readiness distinction which is above the state average of 66.8%.  The high school’s graduation rate was 93.0% which was well above the state average of 88.9%.  Success in the twenty-first century economy is dependent upon schools preparing students for college and/or careers.  Breckinridge County High School will continue to focus on ensuring that all students maximize learning experiences in an effort to fully prepare students for the global economy.
