Breckinridge County Schools

Our motto is “Every Child, Every Day.” It is the credo we follow each day to ensure ALL of our students receive the best education possible, preparing them for what lies ahead in the competitive world of the 21st century. In the latest assessment, our district ranked in the top 11th percentile in the state. Breckinridge County High School ranks in the top in graduation rate and college and career readiness, and our ACT scores are at an all-time high. Students also earned 682 college hours through dual credit and Advanced Placement courses, which is up from 356 the previous year.

The Breckinridge County Area Technology Center ranks in the top 10% in college and career readiness. Students have maintained a 94% pass rate on WorkKeys. Last school year, three students in the state earned platinum-level, national, career-ready certificates, and two of the three were here in Breckinridge County. This year, the ATC has another platinum certificate holder. Our Area Technology Center has increased the number of students in work-based learning which has, in turn, increased students’ placement in permanent positions. Additionally, students have been working with the HUNCH Program (High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware), and they will be presenting at the Space Center in Huntsville, Alabama in late April.

Our district recognizes the importance of technology in today’s changing world. Students participated in the world-wide Hour of Code in December, and the district will be offering coding classes for students this summer. These classes coincide with our second Camp Invention which also challenges students to imagine, create, and explore the possibilities of the 21st century world. We also have great participation in STLP (Student Technology Leadership Programs), with our schools competing at both regional and state levels.

Even as we celebrate our successes, Breckinridge County Schools strive for continuous improvement. Our professional learning communities keep our focus on teaching and learning.   Utilizing the Instructional Rounds process also creates a collaborative approach to meeting the needs of “Every Child, Every Day.” There is certainly a great deal to celebrate in Breckinridge County.
